Philip is an expert in creating – and sharing – approaches that wealth owning families can take to balance their family and business objectives while maximising their contribution to society.
Philip is a thought leader and figurehead within the world of wealth planning. As a director of Conduct, he acts as a mentor to our team – and shares his decades of experience with the families we serve.
Alongside his role with Conduct, Philip sits on the boards of several wealth management, family succession, and philanthropic entities. He organizes family retreats, develops family constitutions, and advises on business and wealth governance strategies.
Philip is now retired from law practice. Before this, he practised international taxation as a partner at Baker Mackenzie. He joined the firm in 1982, and across three decades practised in Hong Kong, Zurich, and Vancouver. Prior to joining Baker McKenzie, Philip began his career as a tax lawyer in New York with Chadbourne & Parke, now Norton Rose Fulbright.
Philip has held part-time academic positions at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, the University of Cambridge, Nanyang Technological University, and the Singapore Management University. He has also lectured at universities across Europe and Asia.
Philip also writes extensively on the subject of wealth planning.
